I’ve recently started shooting film again outside of the weddings I shoot, and I’ve forgotten how much I love film, the grain and personality of the image is above and beyond digital. However, there’s much to be said about the digital photography realm. I love that the creative process doesn’t end after shooting the image, with digital, photoshop can be such a beautiful thing when used correctly to further express the emotion of an image. After shooting film so much these last few months, it’s interesting to see how it has affected my digital approach. I love them both, and it’s impossible to argue whole-heartedly on either side, so I say do both! Great photography is just that, no matter the medium. Here’s a digital image from a recent engagement session I did which has been inspired from my recent film shooting….

Every so often, after an absolutely unforgettable wedding, I’ll be driving home and, despite exhaustion, find myself uncontrollably smiling. This definitely was the case after an amazing day at Tivoli Terrace in Laguna Beach. Something I realized that day and told the new bride, was that no matter how much planning and decorating and preparation etc..the only true thing that makes a wedding absolutely unforgettable, is the people…the family, the close friends, etc. Even if something had gone wrong, (ie: wrong colored flowers, not enough tables..) it wouldn’t have made an ounce of difference. I could tell these folks cared for one another on such a deep and personal level, and that right there is a recipe for unforgettable. I was a little bit envious as a spectator to all this, but honored that I could be there to witness and capture every wonderful moment so that they might relish in them once again….

Did I mention she’s absolutely goregous!?

I can’t say enough how much fun I had at this wedding. From the beginning I knew this was going to be an amazing day after witnessing their gift exchange (I was the courier). Her dress was absolutely amazing, like something straight off the red carpet only a million times better! It was so fun hanging out with you guys all day, you both are so humurous and sincere and amazing all at the same time! Again thank you so much for letting me have the honor to document such an incredible moment in your lives, I wish you both nothing but the best!

This image I am most fond of; it says so much I can’t even begin to put it into words. I believe it encompasses their class, passion, and love so vividly….

We started out at the brand new hotel the London, in Los Angeles, and then headed to Yamashiro. An exquisite high-class japanese restaurant that sits on a hill overlooking all of L.A., and the view is amazing! These two amazing places, paired with an incredible couple, left us with a myriad of amazing images. Congratulations to both of you, it was so great getting to know you and spending such a special day with both of you and your amazing families….
