Took myself down to Laguna Beach to photograph Crystal and Jay’s wedding at Hotel Laguna this past weekend. These two were quite fun indeed, never a dull moment! I loved spending the day with these two, and can’t say enough about how perfect they are for each other. Crystal and Jay thank you SO much for letting me witness the joining of your two families, what an honor it was. Here’s just a couple of some of the great moments from the day:

I had the honor of going to the house of Joann and Shannon, a couple who’s beautiful wedding I had shot in the year past, to shoot their adorable new addition to their new family. She was adorable and couldn’t have ended up in more caring hands than these two. It was a lot more fun than I had imagined, especially hearing about how their lives have changed with this beautiful girl in their lives, and as well learning how a hairdryer and swing music has a magical ability to suppress crying! Here’s a few of my favorites.

These two were awesome! So in love, just the kind of wedding I LOVE to photograph! With every wedding I shoot I am reinforced with how important photographs are, especially having gone through recent family pictures (there weren’t very many), being able to feel and re-live those moments that happened so so long ago. I hope that in 20 or 30 years they can dust a few of these off and bask in the love and excitement they felt on this day that I was so blessed with being able to witness and document….this simple thought is the main reason why I do what I do, why I have put SO much effort into every inch of my trade; so that I am not remembered, only the pure and real moment when I pushed a silly little button. Alright, enough emotional blabbing…..take a gander….

This has got to be one of my most favorite images I’ve taken this year, the depth of expression in this simple moment is absolutely uncontrollable, and I am so dang proud to have captured it. Definitely website material, when I finally get around to re-doing my site 🙂

This opportunity to shoot Ron Tanski (www.rontanskimusic.com), resident blues pianist for the Hollywood staple Cafe Was (www.cafewas.com) , was both wonderful and inspiring. He regularly plays at this amazing small club lounge, which is frequented by big big names, that was modeled after an old 1930’s french jazz club, and let me tell you this place was awesome (the piano even rotates in the middle of the room!) We got to work and I had him play a few songs, and let me tell you his music is amazing; deep and soulful, and anyone should jump at the opportunity to hear him play. This was a lot of fun as it was a bit of a change of pace, and I was able to be as creative as I possibly wanted. I just want to thank Ron for his amazing music and showing me sides of himself you wouldn’t ever show a normal stranger. Please enjoy these as much as I did taking them….
